Maybe it's easier in writing because it's less physical/confrontational. Each writer is in a different physical place. There's the time lag also. We don't have to reply immediately, so less pressure. Easier to "calm down" (See what I mean?)
From my experience with Fox the above would hold. We have very different writing styles and yet we manage to write some good stuff together. But sometimes it would be totally impossible for me to reply in total impro mode right away. I really need the time to think about the piece. Even if only in the background of my mind.
