Poetry can be boosted. I know Carlo Zeno got it for a few of his poems.

From what I saw (personal observations, I don’t have any official Medium stats), the boosted articles don’t necessarily have huge sociocultural impact. It helps to write about such topics, but the boost isn’t limited to them.
