But that’s a good place to start. If so many people find a silly comment of mine interesting, there’s no reason to think I can’t write something more serious that would also appeal to the masses.

I'm not sure. The more time I spend on X, the more I think the masses are there for entertainment only. More serious stuff they find elsewhere, assuming they consume any.
