How to Go From Reader to Lover
My Partner is a blogger. It was love at first read for me. I discovered the blog, read all of it, and each day waited impatiently for more. In less than a year, I went from reader to lover and partner. I’m sure there are many more like me out there, and I want to help! Here’s what you need to do.
First, start slowly. Don’t scare your prey!
Upon discovering the blog, avoid the usual mistake of liking all the posts from the very beginning. That’s too creepy! A reasonable amount of likes (six, according to experts¹) is recommended. You can wait for a few more posts or start following right away; your choice. Studies¹ don’t show any of the two strategies to bring significantly better results.
Then, show yourself!
Do not remain in the follower-zone! It will get you nowhere. Get visible! Your partner-to-be has (hopefully) many followers and doesn’t have the time nor the will to check them all out. An easy solution is to comment. As soon as you become a follower, start commenting on every new post.
Studies² show that the most effective comments are the ones appearing within ten to twenty minutes of publishing. That means you need to be very reactive. If your favorite blogger doesn’t follow a fixed posting schedule, this can be hard. (Don’t worry! This phase won’t last too long). A comment posted…
