When I started writing, my partner asked what my expectations were. I gave it a serious thought, and here are my rules. My partner isn’t following all (any) of them, but maybe they will after reading this. I have hope!

Like everything

It should go without saying, but it still needs some clarifications. The default behavior is to like; no need to read even, just like any new article.

Then read it, and if you truly like it, comment on it. If you want to mark some partnership points, comment with something more original than “great text.”

And for the world-cup champion level, go with something that could trigger a discussion with other followers. That’s the sort of comment that guarantee sex to be good (and happening) in the evening.

Give Feedback

Writers desperately want it. It’s difficult enough to assess how good or interesting one’s writing is, although, public validation through likes and followers is a good indicator sometimes.

But it’s fiendishly difficult to know what to change to make it better. For that, writers need external points of view. Constructive feedback is a rarity, and it cannot be found in the comments. It often comes from a writing circle or a mentor. But the more, the better…
